If you have only one or a few really high level gifted students in your school who need attention this option might work for you.. Or this could also work for the parent who feels their child is NOT getting the attention their talents deserve or for a home schooled child.
Talent Training
Training for specific academic talents, to supervise independent
projects- Type IIIs, to help a child identify their strengths and
interests. Counseling for your
Creative Child
If your child is having difficulty because of his/her abilities or
super high creativity, I can provide counseling for the child and
family on redirecting the creativity to more appropriate outlets, or
dealing with peers or choosing a project that will focus his
attention. Remedial Skills Practice
I can work with students of any ability level. If your child has
difficulty in a certain area and needs work to get up to par, I can
provide skills training and practice in that area. Some children
just need to have material presented in a different learning modality
than their teacher presented it, or in multiple ways.. to write it and
do it or teach it to someone else.
Support for the
Gifted/Learning Disabled Child
Perhaps you have a learning disabled gifted child -- I can provide
tutoring in BOTH his/her strong and weak abilities. I also offer
counseling for the family for this confusing combination. Having a
very Gifted LD family member, I learned ways to help him compensate
for his weaknesses and bring out his best side. Often you will need a
strong advocate to work with the teacher and negotiate alternate
products and presentations. For instance, a child who
can't write worth beans is often a brilliant orator or artist and could present
her book report verbally or visually instead. Fees for my services are listed on the last page of this section.
